Key terms used in Sovereign, explained without jargon.

| Sovereign brain | The machine (Linux software Brain, or a compact appliance) where your Sovereign runs |
| Account | Website sign-in for downloads and license status — magic link, not Crypto Chat |
| Get Brain | Account page where you download the Brain installer |
| Smooth Transfer | Installer path (./install.sh) that updates Brain without wiping your private data |
| License | Your Brain entitlement (subscription, rent-to-own, or owned) |
| Activation code | Secret you type in Brain Settings → License (not the iPhone pairing code) |
| Sovereign Remote | The iPhone app you use to talk to your Sovereign |
| Device link | The secure connection between your iPhone and your Sovereign brain |
| Security code | Short pairing code when approving your iPhone — not the license activation code |
| Crypto Chat | Private encrypted conversation between your iPhone and your Sovereign on your network |
| Thinking service | The model your brain uses to understand and reply to messages |
| Auto-select model | When your brain picks a thinking service based on your message |
| Mission | Your personal life purpose — clarified through Personal Mission Discovery |
| Plan | A reviewable proposal from your Sovereign before consequential work — see Propose first. Not the same as your Mission |
| Soul / Soul Document | Your Sovereign's personality and focus — honed through the Soul Document Process |
| Memory Horizon | Three local memory layers on the brain: Hot Cache, Session Recall, and optional Vault |
| Hot Cache | Short curated essentials loaded every session |
| Session Recall | Past conversation history searched when something earlier matters |
| Vault | Opt-in encrypted long-horizon archive on the brain (propose → commit) |
| Collaborations | Careful multi-Sovereign work toward your Mission — Remote is the cockpit; the brain holds the work |
| Adrian | A Sovereign team guide — available in the app, on this help site, and on the main site for fit conversations |
| Support code | A short code from your brain that helps an advisor assist you |

We avoid technical terms like "LLM," "Bonjour," and "Phoenix" in customer-facing help. If you see them elsewhere, the plain-language equivalents are in the table above.
